Girard Estates proposal gets ripped apart by city planners 🫣

A proposal for a bunch of half-a-million dollar homes shoved between a Pep Boys and an ugly strip mall on 23rd Street was ripped to shreds by the city’s Civic Design Review committee this week.

The Girard Estates project, which would develop an empty three-acre lot at 23rd and Shunk, calls for 122 residential units across 12 different buildings — so tightly packed that one committee member said “it’s almost like a commune.”
